James and Jennifer Dowell of Tyverne Creek Farm received their 2019 Cooperator of the Year Award at the March 16, 2023 annual dinner hosted at the Calvert County Fairgrounds. The event is incredibly special as the Dowell’s have waited 3 long years to receive their prestigious awards.
We would like to commend your commitment to conservation over the past several years. By adapting to new practices and protecting the soil and water resources on your farm, you have built a sustainable farming operation to be proud of. By fencing your cattle out of the waters to keep the nutrients out of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, and by not using herbicides on your property, you are setting a fine example of a farm using Best Management Practices to save the Bay as well as good conservation for the environment. For your exemplary stewardship of the land, the wildlife that inhabit it, and the animals in your care, we thank you.
