The Great Tomato ‘Grow-off’: Science and Nature through Gardening

Grow your own food, learn about science, and compete for the grand prize. Starting on June 3, 2023, elementary aged participants will be given everything they need to grow a bush-type cherry tomato in a grow bag. From home, participants (with an adult, if needed) will be asked to take measurements, track progress, answer questions and upload data and photos weekly to our website as they are coached through the scientific process of observation and recording results.  Submissions will be reviewed by a Calvert County Master Gardener who will be available to answer questions, trouble shoot problems, and share in the glory of your success! In September multiple prizes will be awarded with the Grand Prize being a day, with family and pizza, at Sky Zone Trampoline Park.
