2008 Annual Cooperators Dinner

Calvert Soil Conservation District held it largest ever cooperators dinner on March 13, 2008.  The cooperator of the year was William Dowell.

2007 Annual Cooperators Dinner

Calvert Soil Conservation District met with its cooperators to celebrate the spirit of teamwork and the successes of another year.  The cooperators, staff, friends and family gathered at the Calvert County Fairgrounds to be treated to a delicious meal.  Walt Wells and Susan Hance-Wells the owners and operators of the beautiful Taney Place Farm were recognized for their conservation efforts during the previous year.  They received the 2006 "Cooperator of the Year" award.

 

2006 Annual Cooperators Dinner

Calvert Soil Conservation District held its fifth Annual Cooperators' Dinner on Thursday, March 9, 2006.  As always, it was held at the Calvert County Fairgrounds with the help of Thompson's Catering.  This dinner is our chance to acknowledge our "Cooperator of the Year" for the previous year.  We would like to congratulate Parran Briscoe, the recipient of this award.  During the evening, the district showed a video, put together by Bill Clark, of Calvert County farmers speaking out against the too-stringent agriculture zoning changes proposed for farmers with livestock.  Those changes were later modified.  To show our support for Calvert County farmers and watermen, our door prizes this year were all purchased from Calvert County producers and included fresh eggs, beef, honey, oysters and wine from two local wineries.

 

2005 Annual Cooperators' Dinner

A large snowstorm didn't stop Calvert Soil Conservation District from holding its fourth Annual Cooperators' dinner on Thursday, February 24, 2005 at the Calvert County Fairgrounds.  The buffet provided by Thompson's Catering was, as always, a success.  During the dinner the disrict acknowledged our 2004 "Cooperator of the Year, " Timmy Gott, for his conservation efforts during that year.  Our guest speaker from Ohio, Pat Leimbach, a farm wife, gave an entertaining presentation, "Old Farm Wives Tales.

 

2004 Annual Cooperators' Dinner

Calvert Soil Conservation District held its third Annual Cooperators' Dinner on Thursday, February 29,2004 at the Calvert County Fairgrounds. Thompson's Catering served a delicious buffet for a group of 200 people. During the dinner, the district acknowledged our "Cooperator of the Year" for the year 2003 to commemorate his conservation efforts during that year. An enjoyable and informative slide presentation on best management practices installed throughout the county was also given by Bill Clark, District Manager. The district hopes to see our cooperating farmers again in 2005 to share a good meal and information on conservation programs.
