2007 Farm Tour

On November 15,  the District hosted its Annual Farm Tour.  Despite the rain, the turnout was good and we headed toward the Eastern Shore and Delaware.  The trip included a stop at the Perdue Grain/Oil Facility in Salisbury in order to see one place where corn and soybeans produced in our county may go.  The crops are used to create chicken feed.  Also, the oil is pressed out of the soybeans to be used in many products.  The next stop was the Perdue AgriRecycle Facility in Laurel Delaware.  Here they process chicken litter into fertilizer.  This is one way farmers turn a pollutant and waste product into a commodity.  It is sold directly to farmers and the public to the facility.
