2006 Farm Tour

On November 9 the District hosted its Annual Farm Tour.  We visited Perry Bowen's Farm in King George Virginia.  The Bowens produce hundreds of acres of Spinach and other vegetables.  The spinach is harvested and packed for shipment right on site using innovative equipment.  After an informative tour of the farm operation, we were invited to a delicious barbecue hosted by the Bowen Family.

We then boarded the bus and headed to our next stop, the Westmoreland Berry Farm, which has over 800 acres of fruits and vegetables.  We all enjoyed a wagon ride and admired the view of fields filled with berry bushes.  We also visited their country store full of preserves and freshly picked fruits and veggies.  Our staff and guests thoroughly enjoyed this informative trip to Virginia.
