The district has completed a design to refurbish the current Washwater Recycling Facility at the Naval Recreation Center in Solomons. The facility is now open and due to freezing weather conditions, must be closed down three months out of every year. Our design includes a new building to cover the facility, additional drains, and a complete washwater recycling unit that will clean the water and allow it to be used over again. This will be a great help to the Recreation Center in conserving its supply of clean water.
The district was contacted last spring about installing an ADA Handicap Accessible trail for Jefferson Patterson Park that will allow visitors, including those with disabilities, to enjoy visiting the newly constructed Native American Indian Village that has been constructed along the Patuxent River. The village will be used as a landing for Captain John Smith's ship, which is scheduled to land here in August 2007 as part of a memorial voyage planned along the mid-Atlantic coast.
The district will be working on a Stormwater Retrofit Project at Randle Cliff, near Chesapeake Beach, this spring. The pipe that carried water under their security road began rusting out, causing erosion around the pipe. The road is now caving in and is unusable. We plan to remove the old pipe and install new plastic pipe, along with drains, to control the stormwater.
